Google Forms vs.
Sponsor A Purpose

Discover why nonprofits choose Sponsor A Purpose

Why switch

A Google Forms alternative that can take the donation

Google Forms is free, familiar, and fine for a quick survey or RSVP list. But it has no payment processing, no donor CRM, and minimal branding, it's a general-purpose tool, not built for fundraising. Sponsor A Purpose is also free, with a complete platform built for fundraising instead. Most Google Forms alternatives are better form builders. The gap that actually matters for a nonprofit is money: Google Forms cannot take a gift or issue a receipt.

Feature comparison

Cost and what you get free

Both are free. Google Forms is free because it is part of Workspace and does not touch money; ours is free because the CRM carries no monthly fee and we take 0% in platform fees.

Donor CRM

Google Forms writes to a spreadsheet. Response charts and spreadsheet-native analysis are genuinely good for reading a set of answers, and better than a CRM for that one job. What a spreadsheet cannot do is be a donor record: no giving history, no segmentation, no custom fields, no connection between the form and the person.

Giving and payments

Google Forms cannot take money. It has a template library and embeds on your site, as ours do, but donation processing, recurring giving, automated tax receipts, DAF giving and employer matching gifts all require something else entirely.

Communication and automation

Google Forms can email you a notification. Fundraising email campaigns run off the donor record here, so a submission can trigger the thank-you without an export.
