Sponsor A Purpose

Discover why nonprofits choose Sponsor A Purpose

Why switch

An Instrumentl alternative that runs your donors too

Instrumentl is a well-regarded, premium-priced grant matching and pipeline tracking tool: AI-assisted funder discovery, deadline tracking, and application organization. But it's grants-only, no donation processing, no donor CRM, no website. Sponsor A Purpose bundles that same grant discovery into a complete, free platform. The catch with most Instrumentl alternatives is that they only do grants. Ours sits in the CRM, so a funder you find is already attached to the campaigns and reporting around it.

Feature comparison

Cost and what you get free

Instrumentl runs roughly $299 to $999 a month billed annually, with users capped by tier at 3, 5 or 15. Sponsor A Purpose charges nothing per month for the CRM, does not cap staff users, and prices grants as an add-on.

Donor CRM

Instrumentl holds grants, not donors. There are no donor records and no giving history, because that is not what it is for. If your grant work needs to connect to the individuals and campaigns around it, that connection has to live somewhere else.

Grants

This is Instrumentl's home ground and the comparison is close. Discovery, funder research, deadline tracking, pipeline management, AI-assisted writing and post-award spend tracking all run on both sides. Their remaining edge is extracting requirements automatically from award letters.
